Hilliker Letter May 2019

Hello from the Hillikers,

We’ve finished language school!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Guanajuato learning to live in a new culture. But now we’re excited for the next phase of training and learning and the coming experiences God has for us with Mexican Medical.

Here’s a snippet from our last month in Guanajuato. Thank you again for praying us through language school! Now…we get to practice using what we learned!

May 2019 Newsletter

Hello Friends,

Thank you so much for your interest in our ministry at Clínica La Esperanza!  Thank you for partnering with us through friendship, prayers, serving with us and/or financial gifts.  God has been doing great things at La Esperanza!  We spent March and April there and served with two caravan teams.  We are at the Mexican Medical office in Lemon Grove (San Diego County) for three weeks and will be heading back to Mexico at the end of the month to serve with more teams.  Keep praying because God is answering!  Thank you for your encouragement!  We hope you are blessed by reading about all that God is doing in our May newsletter!

God bless you!

Hilliker Letter April 2019

Greetings from Mexico,

Thank you, friends, for having walked with us through these months of language school. We are grateful for the lessons we have learned thus far, and those that are still to come. Serving with The Bridge church from Reno this past month in Northern Baja California was an encouragement and provided a good check for what we have been learning.  But even more important, we are eager for where God is leading and how He is shaping us for His plans. Thank you again.

We are so blessed to have a team of people who are faithful to encourage, pray and support us as we serve in Mexico.  God has blessed us beyond words through your faithfulness.  Thank you!

Not only does the calendar say we are in spring but the weather is warmed and the hills are showing defendant signs of a Baja spring.  We are enjoying the warmer days and clear skies.

Attached is our latest newsletter to assist you in knowing what is happening and how to pray for us and the ministry.

La Paz Prison Report March 2019

La Paz Prison Team Full Report

In one sense, one could say that this was the best team ever this time in this prison -because the inmates that have come to know Christ in the prison have matured in Christ to whereas they are now reaching out to their fellow inmates.  It really was exciting to see one inmate sharing Christ with another inmate, and then to put his arms around this other inmate, and pray for him.    Thank you again for all of your prayers and financial support that really help to make these outreaches such a success. No other group is now allowed to go into these prisons to do what we do-and people’s lives are being changed as a result. They all appreciate the love and attention we give them, as we share the love of Jesus with them-and many are receiving the message of salvation.

Hilliker Letter March 2019

Hello from the Hillikers,

Spring Greetings!

As one practices Spanish, funny (and at times, embarrassing) moments are bound to occur. Here is a fun anecdote from our adventures learning Spanish.

When we first arrived in Guanajuato, Erin didn’t talk much outside of school or the house because speaking Spanish with new people felt daunting. And, getting the words out correctly sometimes seemed painful to the listeners. Recently, we were having coffee with a couple from our church, and he shared that when we first met, he thought Erin was possibly mute or didn’t have an ability to speak!! We thank the Lord for the improvements we’ve been able to make during our time here.

In the attached letter we mention an upcoming missions trip to Cabo. There is still some space available to join the team. The dates are June 7-14, 2019. We will be doing work projects at the clinic, diabetes information classes at night, and three medical outreaches. Volunteers with all abilities and skills are welcome. Let us know if you are interested and we can send an information sheet with more details.

Hilliker Letter February 2019

Hello from the Hillikers,

February has been another month of firsts. First time leading crafts in a retirement home. First time for Erin to travel solo in Guanajuato (she attended a Ladies’ meeting at church).  For the first time we have also realized how soon our time studying here will be completed. Only two and a half months remaining! It certainly has been a fruitful time. You continue to be a valuable part of this learning process. Thank you for praying with us and stepping through this journey alongside us.

Lynne and I are so grateful for each of you and your continued faithfulness to encourage, pray and support us.  Without you we could not be serving in San Vicente, Mexico and beyond.  Thank you.

This winter we have had several storms which have provided us with some much needed rain.  This past year the area was so short of water that many of the farms did not plant nearly all their acreage, so there was not a lot of work this past year.  Hopefully this rain will allow the farmer to plant more crops which will give people work next summer.

Attached is our latest newsletter to assist you as you pray for us and follow how God is working in the lives of people in San Vicente and beyond.
