North Shore at Gabriel House
July 2010

We are still rejoicing and praising God for a great week with North Shore Bible Church from Manson, Washington. We were blessed to serve together outside Ensenada at the Gabriel House for disabled children. As much as we planned and prepared for the week, we can see that God directed each situation. We are reminded of the verse in Proverbs 16:9 that says: “The mind of man plans his ways, but the LORD directs his steps.”

We appreciated the team’s flexibility and their willingness to be lead by God’s Holy Spirit. We saw many of them stretch beyond what they thought they were capable of doing, knowing that they were relying on the Lord’s strength to get them through.

This special team also touched our hearts, as we saw them tenderly feed, care and hold the children who needed it the most, the ones we call “The Treasures.” We loved the help and special attention they gave to the children when we ventured away from the Gabriel House. We can still see the smiles on the faces of the “sisters” as they gave them special moments at the beach house: sitting in the sand, sharing the yummy enchiladas, pudding and brownies, and the beautiful gift of worship the team blessed them with. The time at church was precious; everyone should be able to experience the love of God in this way. The numerous trips to “the facilities” didn’t even them, wow; there is a “true heart after God.” Of course the park trip was so much fun. Seeing all the empty wheelchairs was as indication that everyone was able to appreciate the full experience of being at a park.

The Gabriel House directors and staff were amazed at all the work projects that were able to be accomplished. They know that, now that the tile is down, soon the other boys will be able to move into the new dorm and that “school” no longer needs to be interrupted by wind and rain coming through the roof. Yeah!! The gift bags to the staff was a good reminder to them, that they are appreciated by God and all of us for what they do.

And last but not least, we were especially thankful for the team’s willingness to share God’s word and His love through the Vacation Bible Schools. Children saw Jesus’ love for them in everything they did; songs, puppets, dramas, health lessons, crafts and watermelon!
We will continue to pray for each one of the team members from North Shore Bible Church as they continue to seek to serve God and be used by Him to further His kingdom. “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in your will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Phil. 1:6
