Partners in Ministry

Greeting from Mexico! How exciting to see how God is working in the lives of people here in San Vicente. Many people have asked this question: How could you leave your farm and business and come to Baja? In reality it was fairly easy for me but it was a giant step for Lynne. Today we are both so pleased that we took that step of faith. The things we have learned about ourselves, our God, and the people of Baja are truly awesome and amazing. To see how God has changed us and to see how God has changed the people in San Vicente has made it more than worthwhile.

Our goal in writing our newsletter is not just to let you know what is happening but also to encourage you to step out in faith to follow what God would have you do in your life. Lynne and I know from experience that God loves us and wants the best for us. Sometimes we have just had to trust God and follow the path He has before us until we can see the results, but it has always been worth the wait.

We have attached our latest newsletter to help know what God is doing through your partnership and give you a snapshot of what God is doing in San Vicente. Thank you so very much for your faithful, prayers, encouragement, and support. You are appreciated.

Partners in Ministry

A few days ago I was in a meeting with Alba, the leader of the Angels, and Pastor as we were planning several outreach events in partnership with our groups. Now they have taken ownership and are planning and leading all the ministry activities and we are privileged to be able to come along side and support their ministry. They are now asking us to join them. It was really exciting to see them making plans for what they wanted to happen. Mostly I was just asking how we could assist them.

What a change from a few years ago when they seemed to want us to do all the planning and they would come along only because we asked.

As one of our Partners In Ministry you are a vital part of this ministry. Without you we could not be serving in San Vicente and without any doubt without your prayers we would not have seen God work nearly so much. We want to thank you for your faithful prayers, encouragement and support. Each of you is important and we consider you to be very special.

It was a thrill to sit and listen about the San Vicente mission’s trip to central Mexico. Heard over and over how the Angels led all the ministry and did an awesome job. They went to six locations, five of which the church has been to before.

On the “Island of Mexicaltitan” , which they have gone to the past five years, several of the youth greeted the Angels and told them they were so excited to see them.  Some were asking questions about God and said they remember them from previous years. The Angels were excited because many of the island residence asked questions about God. When asked they indicated that during previous visits had sparked interest in God and the Bible. For the first time they have a regular Bible study on the island.

Partners in Ministry

We would like to wish each and every one a merry Christmas and pray you have the best New Year.

The past fourteen years in Mexico have been awesome and God has given us so much joy and satisfaction as we have seen the changes in the San Vicente church. The people of San Vicente have treated us more like family then missionaries for which we are grateful. They keep telling us we are just part of their church family and invite us to all their major events and especially their mission trips. What an honor and pleasure to join them as they serve God and share Jesus with their own people.

We are also privileged to be a part of some awesome missionaries and dynamic church leaders in Baja as they provide opportunities for their churches to reach communities for Jesus. Our mobile dental unit is part of those outreaches and provides some very practical means to say we as Christians really care about you and want to provide for your physical needs as well as your spiritual needs.

All of these opportunities are made possible because you as our Partners in Ministry have provided not only for our financial needs but also prayed regularly for us. Without your support and prayers we would not have been able to serve as your representatives in Mexico. Thank you so very much.

Attached is our latest newsletter to assist you in knowing what is happening in Baja and with us.

Merry Christmas and May God richly bless you in the New Year

Recently the electric power company repaired and replaced all the street light bulbs in our area. (Many had stopped working over the years) What is very interesting is that now the light directly across the street from the mission base now shines brightly on the mural. This is the mural depicting the disciples drawing the net, in Luke 5, after Jesus told them to cast their net on the opposite side of the boat. How interesting that the brightest light is now on the mural all night.

The church leaders told us that they had decided to not do their annual missions trip to save money to help the church they are starting in Ojos Negros. But the Angels asked if they raise the funds needed would they allow them to continue the mission’s trip they were planning? They affirmed the Angels desire and they youth went to work. Shortly after they started giving their money to the church account adults begin signing up also. There is room for 14 Angels (one van load) and now there is a waiting list for the Angels and more adults have signed up then there is room in their van. Pastor told us this past week that the Angels continue to lead the church to do more for Jesus.

We are thrilled to see this group of young people having a desire to serve God and others. Just as in past this past Sunday 8 of the 9 people on the worship team leading the morning worship service were Angels.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support. Attached is our latest newsletter to assist you in knowing what is happening with this ministry. God bless you!

Wow, we have had an awesome summer in San Vicente. Watching God work is truly one of life’s joys. Attached is our latest newsletter to give you a glimpse into what has happened the past couple of months.

We want to thank each and every one who prays, encourages, and supports us as you are the real hero’s and without you we could not be in San Vicente. Your support in these ways makes it possible for us to serve in this awesome ministry.

Two more of our Angels and former Angels have started the school of missions. Abi, a new member of the Angels who is really excited to have the opportunity to go to school and learn about God. Victor, who has been one of Dave’s special “projects” for several years. Both of these young men have potential to be awesome men for God.  In addition Alejandra will graduate from Bible school at the end of this semester.

Having a strong support base is so rewarding and valuable. Recently we have been communicating with some friends who are missions and struggling to maintain their ministry. As we have endeavored to encourage them it reminded us of what an awesome set of partners we have who are faithfully praying for us and the ministry in San Vicente. Thank you so much and may we encourage you to continue to pray for us. Without question it is your prayers which make the ministry successful here in San Vicente.

Recently we found that the Angels (our youth ministry team) have began their own outreach in addition to what they do with us and the local church. They youth decided they wanted to go to Ensenada every other Friday and pray for people who are waiting in line (some wait all night) to see a medical professional. They youth are preparing at least 120 burritos to give away, have given blankets to those in need and even given their own coats. What an amazing thing to see the youth we have discipled have a vision to share Jesus and then on their own go and make it happen. Lynne and I are thrilled.

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers, notes of encouragement and support. Without you we could not be in San Vicente serving God is this capacity. We have attached our latest newsletter to assist you in knowing what we are doing and how you can pray for us.

You are appreciated!

How exciting to see God changing people’s lives, their hopes and their dreams. As we watch the Angels grow and mature, as young people but also as young people who have a desire to serve God, we are thrilled. Ten years ago one young lady asked to go with us to tell her own people about Jesus and now that one has grown to twenty young people. God allowed this team to grow slowly which allowed us to grow into this ministry and we love both the youth and the ministry.

Our last couple of teams have worked in partnership with the local church to build a house for a family of the church. It has been so fun to watch the family as they watch their house being built and the excitement they have shown. The husband/father is not able to do any strenuous work due to a heart condition so this makes it even more special to help the church help this family.

We have attached our latest newsletter to assist you as you pray for us. Without our support team back home we could not fulfill the ministry God has called to in San Vicente. Thank you so much for your prayers, encouragement, and support. You are a vital part of this ministry

Lynne and I want to thank you for your faithful prayers and encouragement. We are so encouraged by your faithfulness and value your prayers, encouragement, and support.

As each year ends and a new year begins many of us look back as well as look forward. As we look back over 2014 we can see so many wonderful and exciting things which came to fulfillment. The past several years we have thought that the past year was so good, how could it be any better. Then another year and yes it was better.

We have several ideas for the new year and are excited to see how these ideas will work out. One of the goals we have is to have a national take the leadership of “The angels”, our Mexican Youth Ministry Team. We are working with the local church leadership to see this transfer of leadership happens in a smooth and positive way.

I have attached our latest newsletter to assist you in knowing what we are doing and how God is working. We also value your prayers and hope this information will assist in those prayers.

God bless you and know you are appreciated.

Johnson Journal, December 2014

With Thanksgiving just behind us and Christmas before us what an awesome time of the year. Many of us take the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Lets also take time to remember the reason we celebrate Christmas, the birth of God’s son, Jesus Christ.

Lynne and I have been blessed the past 12 Christmas’s to see the wonderful day from the advantage of 2 cultures. The one we have known from our earliest memories and more recently to learn and experience the customs of the warm relational culture of Mexico. Both have positive aspects and we are blessed to watch both cultures celebrate this most special of days.

This will be our first Christmas to spend Christmas day on a missions trip to some very special places and with some very special people. The plan is to be on an island in central Mexico sharing God’s love with children and the adults who live in this unique place. Isla De Mexcaltitan has a rich history which includes being a man-made island and center of the Aztec nation. The Angels, our Mexican youth team, are preparing a children’s program which includes Bible stories, Songs, Mime, Crafts, and Games. The trip is 10 days in length and involves 4 locations and 4 very different settings. Lynne and I are very excited to be a part of this special opportunity.

We have attached our latest newsletter to assist you in knowing what God is doing in San Vicente and how you can best pray for us. Without the prayers, support and encouragement we would not be serving in this awesome community. Thank you for your faithfulness to remember us in prayer.

Merry Christmas! May God richly bless you. Have a wonderful Christmas season with family and friends.
