Johnson Journal June 2018

Paul and Jean Goodner blessed us the last week of April with Pastor/Leadership training based on the Bible. This was the fifth year of the series and we had thought it would be the last in this series. However, on Friday evening when the class ended nearly everyone in attendance said they had learned so much and asked them to return next year. So, we are planning another week sometime next spring. Always exciting for Lynne and myself when the nationals want more training.

Effective ministry is not only about what you can do, it is also about how well you teach others.  Paul Goodner

The best part about serving with Mexican Medical, for us, is their approach to caring for the whole body, both the spiritual and physical needs, just like Jesus. We were able to witness this during our latest trip to Mexico. – Steve and Jan Crews

Partners in Ministry,

We had an awesome Thanksgiving both at the local church and at our mission base. Wednesday evening we attended a special Thanksgiving service at the local church followed by a delicious full turkey dinner. Even though Mexico has no “Thanksgiving Day” the local church has a day to reflect on how God has blessed them during the previous year. It truly is amazing to listen to them tell how God has worked in their lives during the past year.

Then on Thanksgiving Day we invited some local pastors and friends to join us for fun afternoon. Lynne prepared a traditional turkey dinner complete with all the trimmings and Angelia brought homemade pumpkin pie which was awesome! This made for an enjoyable and fun afternoon with the last of the guests leaving late in the afternoon.

We have attached our latest newsletter to give you a taste of what is happening in the ministry.   This fall we have had more opportunities to partner with local churches and it was so great to see how each church reached out to their communities. It was awesome to see local churches sharing Jesus and praying with their friends, family, and neighbors. Often our part is that of support and bringing special medical and dental skills which provides special attraction to the community.

We pray you have an wonderful Christmas season with family and friends

Vision is to see people, places and things not just as they are, but the way they could be.

Loreto Weekend Report – November 9-13, 2017

REPORT FOR WEEKENDER TEAM — November 9-13, 2017

As you may have likely heard, we have made a change with regards to our Health Fairs: we will now be focusing only on the Prisons in Santa Rosalia (where we’ve held our outreaches once or twice each year for the past eight years), and in La Paz (where we began ministries last March). This month we were glad to be back in La Paz, and glad to have many people from La Paz who were on our Team six months ago, on our Team again this November.

You will remember us mentioning before how difficult it’d been for years for pastors to have access into the prison to minister to the inmates, yet how wonderful it’d been that the Prison had asked us to come with our Health Fairs. So we had some pastors with us last time, not only to help us with our Health Fairs, but also hoping that as a result the doors would begin to open for them…

Well we were so glad to discover upon arriving this time that Pedro and Rosita, (pastors in La Paz), who were two of those who were with us last time, (and they were with us again this time) – that they had been having Bible Studies every Saturday in the La Paz Prison since our Outreach last Spring – Pedro leading one Bible Study for the men, while Rosita led another Bible Study for the women. We were overjoyed to learn that the doors we were praying about were opening…

We were then very pleased to be introduced to several of the inmates who had made decisions for Christ last Spring when we were there, (who had been attending these Bible Studies), and to learn that they were continuing to grow in their faith and to be strong in the Lord.  How exciting!

As we began each day Don gave everyone on our Team encouragement and instructions from the Word and then we prayed together. The first day it was about exemplifying our transformed lives. On the second day Don encouraged everyone to pray for the inmates, but before doing so, to ask the inmate what they’d like us to pray about for them. This approach opened the hearts of many of the inmates, and discussions followed…, and then many of the inmates (men and women) were being led to Christ. It was amazing; and we could not keep track of the numbers…            …

Dr. Ricardo’s been helping us in our Health Fairs for just over a year, and just a short time ago he was offered a job in this Prison. Now as a result the Health Fairs this weekend the inmates know that their doctor is a Christian and they can go to him almost anytime…

The Lord is definitely doing a work here: the doors are opening, the inmates are responding, follow-up is happening, and your prayers are being answered… Thank you so much again for helping to make all of this happen.

December 2016 Newsletter

Hello friends!

We wanted to share with you about fall ministry at La Esperanza.  It seems that the ministry should slow down after summer, but there is always more work to be done!  God is good, as He continues to draw people in our area to His heart.  It is a blessing to be a part of God’s work here.  We look forward to a slower-paced time with family this holiday season.  Our prayer is that you will be able to slow down and enjoy the holiday as well.   Please pray for healing for Angel (there is more information in the attached newsletter).  Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

 God bless you!

Johnson Journal, August 2015

WOW! What an awesome summer of ministry! Our teams partnered with the Angels to share Jesus in San Vicente, Ensenada, and with some of the farm laborers who come to our area for work each season. Some of our team leaders commented about how much the Angels have advanced in their ability to use a variety of new ways to share about Jesus. This something we have worked very hard to do the past few years and very exciting to see that training being used.

One of the most exciting areas of ministry for us has been to see the nationals take more responsibility for ministry and reaching their own people for Jesus Christ. The Angels have made tremendous progress in this area. These young people continue to lead not only other youth but also the entire local church to a stronger personal relationship with God.

Lynne and I want to thank you for your prayers, encouragement and support. God is using each of you as you partner with us to assist the church and people of San Vicente to take the leadership of providing the leadership, biblical education, training and experience to lead their churches to even greater effectiveness.

Attached is our latest newsletter to assist you in praying for us and providing information so you know what we are doing to assist and train the local church. God bless you!

Johnson Journal, April 2015

How exciting to see God changing people’s lives, their hopes and their dreams. As we watch the Angels grow and mature, as young people but also as young people who have a desire to serve God, we are thrilled. Ten years ago one young lady asked to go with us to tell her own people about Jesus and now that one has grown to twenty young people. God allowed this team to grow slowly which allowed us to grow into this ministry and we love both the youth and the ministry.

Our last couple of teams have worked in partnership with the local church to build a house for a family of the church. It has been so fun to watch the family as they watch their house being built and the excitement they have shown. The husband/father is not able to do any strenuous work due to a heart condition so this makes it even more special to help the church help this family.

We have attached our latest newsletter to assist you as you pray for us. Without our support team back home we could not fulfill the ministry God has called to in San Vicente. Thank you so much for your prayers, encouragement, and support. You are a vital part of this ministry

God bless you and know you are appreciated!
