Vehicle Rentals

The following companies rent vans in San Diego, CA to teams doing ministry in Mexico. Many of these companies offer airport pick-up and drop-off services. When obtaining a rental van quote for your mission trip, be sure to ask for the total quote, which includes the Mexican auto insurance, from your rental company.

Mexican Auto Insurance

If you are driving a private vehicle or a rental vehicle that does not come with Mexican auto insurance, you will need to purchase Mexican auto insurance. Why? In the event of an accident, you are required by Mexican law to have insurance from a Mexican company, even if you are not at fault. Go to bajabound.com for answers to your Mexican auto insurance questions.

Health Insurance

Mexican Medical requires all participants to show proof of Mexican health insurance. You may choose any traveler’s health insurance policy you want, but we in the Mexican Medical office use Seven Corners offered by Good Neighbor Insurance.

Phone Calls in Mexico

When calling any U.S. phone number (including other U.S. cell phones traveling in Mexico with you) simply dial: 001+area code+number. Please check with your cell phone provider about coverage and roaming fees for calls originating in Mexico. We find that AT&T and Verizon offer the most coverage, while Sprint offers little coverage in Baja. Bring your car and wall chargers with you. Cell phones run out of charge quicker while searching for service in Mexico.
