Reynaldo Ventura, who goes by Buky, was born in San Quintin. It was his father, Rafael Ventura, along with Keith McBride, who had a vision for Clinica La Esperanza. Buky’s father dedicated his life to ministering to migrant workers in the area, and Buky was right beside him. Buky decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and began studying at the Bible school on-site. He graduated in the summer of 2005.
Theresa went on her first one-week mission trip to San Quintin in 2002. She returned with Mexican Medical the following summer as an intern in San Felipe. She moved to San Diego in 2004 to work in Mexican Medical’s US office and also worked alongside medical and caravan teams in Mexico. Theresa went to serve full-time at Clinica La Esperanza in 2006.
While serving together on the mission field, Buky and Theresa met and fell in love. They were married in 2009. Buky and Theresa have been leading at La Esperanza since January 2012. Buky is also the assistant pastor of the local church. Together, Buky and Theresa serve in worship, minister in the migrant camps and nearby communities, lead visiting teams in cross-cultural ministry, support the local church with its outreaches, and share the love and hope of Christ with those they meet. They were blessed by the birth of their daughter, Elena, in August 2015. After a lengthy visa process, Buky entered the US for the first time on September 7, 2017. They are grateful to now have the freedom to continue the ministry at La Esperanza and be able to visit churches, friends, and family in the US.
