Partners in Ministry

Greeting from Mexico! How exciting to see how God is working in the lives of people here in San Vicente. Many people have asked this question: How could you leave your farm and business and come to Baja? In reality it was fairly easy for me but it was a giant step for Lynne. Today we are both so pleased that we took that step of faith. The things we have learned about ourselves, our God, and the people of Baja are truly awesome and amazing. To see how God has changed us and to see how God has changed the people in San Vicente has made it more than worthwhile.

Our goal in writing our newsletter is not just to let you know what is happening but also to encourage you to step out in faith to follow what God would have you do in your life. Lynne and I know from experience that God loves us and wants the best for us. Sometimes we have just had to trust God and follow the path He has before us until we can see the results, but it has always been worth the wait.

We have attached our latest newsletter to help know what God is doing through your partnership and give you a snapshot of what God is doing in San Vicente. Thank you so very much for your faithful, prayers, encouragement, and support. You are appreciated.

Partners in Ministry

A few days ago I was in a meeting with Alba, the leader of the Angels, and Pastor as we were planning several outreach events in partnership with our groups. Now they have taken ownership and are planning and leading all the ministry activities and we are privileged to be able to come along side and support their ministry. They are now asking us to join them. It was really exciting to see them making plans for what they wanted to happen. Mostly I was just asking how we could assist them.

What a change from a few years ago when they seemed to want us to do all the planning and they would come along only because we asked.

As one of our Partners In Ministry you are a vital part of this ministry. Without you we could not be serving in San Vicente and without any doubt without your prayers we would not have seen God work nearly so much. We want to thank you for your faithful prayers, encouragement and support. Each of you is important and we consider you to be very special.

It was a thrill to sit and listen about the San Vicente mission’s trip to central Mexico. Heard over and over how the Angels led all the ministry and did an awesome job. They went to six locations, five of which the church has been to before.

On the “Island of Mexicaltitan” , which they have gone to the past five years, several of the youth greeted the Angels and told them they were so excited to see them.  Some were asking questions about God and said they remember them from previous years. The Angels were excited because many of the island residence asked questions about God. When asked they indicated that during previous visits had sparked interest in God and the Bible. For the first time they have a regular Bible study on the island.

Partners in Ministry

We would like to wish each and every one a merry Christmas and pray you have the best New Year.

The past fourteen years in Mexico have been awesome and God has given us so much joy and satisfaction as we have seen the changes in the San Vicente church. The people of San Vicente have treated us more like family then missionaries for which we are grateful. They keep telling us we are just part of their church family and invite us to all their major events and especially their mission trips. What an honor and pleasure to join them as they serve God and share Jesus with their own people.

We are also privileged to be a part of some awesome missionaries and dynamic church leaders in Baja as they provide opportunities for their churches to reach communities for Jesus. Our mobile dental unit is part of those outreaches and provides some very practical means to say we as Christians really care about you and want to provide for your physical needs as well as your spiritual needs.

All of these opportunities are made possible because you as our Partners in Ministry have provided not only for our financial needs but also prayed regularly for us. Without your support and prayers we would not have been able to serve as your representatives in Mexico. Thank you so very much.

Attached is our latest newsletter to assist you in knowing what is happening in Baja and with us.

Merry Christmas and May God richly bless you in the New Year

Recently the electric power company repaired and replaced all the street light bulbs in our area. (Many had stopped working over the years) What is very interesting is that now the light directly across the street from the mission base now shines brightly on the mural. This is the mural depicting the disciples drawing the net, in Luke 5, after Jesus told them to cast their net on the opposite side of the boat. How interesting that the brightest light is now on the mural all night.

The church leaders told us that they had decided to not do their annual missions trip to save money to help the church they are starting in Ojos Negros. But the Angels asked if they raise the funds needed would they allow them to continue the mission’s trip they were planning? They affirmed the Angels desire and they youth went to work. Shortly after they started giving their money to the church account adults begin signing up also. There is room for 14 Angels (one van load) and now there is a waiting list for the Angels and more adults have signed up then there is room in their van. Pastor told us this past week that the Angels continue to lead the church to do more for Jesus.

We are thrilled to see this group of young people having a desire to serve God and others. Just as in past this past Sunday 8 of the 9 people on the worship team leading the morning worship service were Angels.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support. Attached is our latest newsletter to assist you in knowing what is happening with this ministry. God bless you!

Wow, we have had an awesome summer in San Vicente. Watching God work is truly one of life’s joys. Attached is our latest newsletter to give you a glimpse into what has happened the past couple of months.

We want to thank each and every one who prays, encourages, and supports us as you are the real hero’s and without you we could not be in San Vicente. Your support in these ways makes it possible for us to serve in this awesome ministry.

Two more of our Angels and former Angels have started the school of missions. Abi, a new member of the Angels who is really excited to have the opportunity to go to school and learn about God. Victor, who has been one of Dave’s special “projects” for several years. Both of these young men have potential to be awesome men for God.  In addition Alejandra will graduate from Bible school at the end of this semester.

Dave & Lynne Johnson write:

We are very excited to see a former Angel who just graduated from a year long missions school take the leadership of the discipleship team. Alba was part of the Angels for several years and is a young lady whom we have assisted through Jr Hi and High School so she could get an education. Then to see her go to a school focusing on missions and now back in San Vicente is awesome.  Alba is a little nervous about her new role but watching her this week as the Angels prepare for a summer of ministry is amazing. She knows how we have done things for years and now she has ideas of her own and we are pleased to support her in this new role.  This may be the fulfillment of our goal to see a national person take the leadership of this discipleship ministry and make it their own. The goal of missions should always be to train nationals for leadership and then step back and let them lead in their own style. Lynne and I are so pleased to see this happening.

We want to thank you for your prayers related to Dave’s health.  He is still dealing with the heart challenges but the Doctors have been very positive about the long term outcome.  Please keep us in your prayers.

We have attached our last newsletter to assist you in knowing what is happening and how to pray for us.

Without you, our partners in ministry, it would not be possible for us to continue serving in Mexico.  Thank you for your encouragement, love, prayers and support

As many of you have heard we have had to change plans due to some medical challenges with Dave’s heart. Over the past couple of months the doctors have been testing him to the point he feels they have turned him inside out and made him feel like a pin cushion with all the needles they have used on his arms. Just today he was at the hospital for an outpatient treatment. They sent a camera down his throat for close look at his heart and found it looked good and clear so they were able to shock his heart to reset the rhythm, and it worked perfectly. Now he needs to follow directions closely and have a checkup in 2 weeks.

Thank you for your prayers but please continue to pray for a complete resolution so we can return to San Vicente.

Above you will find a link our latest newsletter to assist you in knowing what God is doing in San Vicente and how to pray. Prayer is the number key to the success in all ministries.

Johnson Journal, August 2015

WOW! What an awesome summer of ministry! Our teams partnered with the Angels to share Jesus in San Vicente, Ensenada, and with some of the farm laborers who come to our area for work each season. Some of our team leaders commented about how much the Angels have advanced in their ability to use a variety of new ways to share about Jesus. This something we have worked very hard to do the past few years and very exciting to see that training being used.

One of the most exciting areas of ministry for us has been to see the nationals take more responsibility for ministry and reaching their own people for Jesus Christ. The Angels have made tremendous progress in this area. These young people continue to lead not only other youth but also the entire local church to a stronger personal relationship with God.

Lynne and I want to thank you for your prayers, encouragement and support. God is using each of you as you partner with us to assist the church and people of San Vicente to take the leadership of providing the leadership, biblical education, training and experience to lead their churches to even greater effectiveness.

Attached is our latest newsletter to assist you in praying for us and providing information so you know what we are doing to assist and train the local church. God bless you!
